Socialites Get LAVISH at Lavishy Boutique

Summer’s officially here and our summer event series, Shopping After Dark, is just picking up speed.  Our next private shopping adventure takes place at Lavishy Boutique (2525 Yonge Street) on July 8th. Featuring an exclusive house label, plus a slew of international brands, Lavishy is a fashion editor favourite with its popular filigree earrings being frequently featured in LouLou, Elle Canada and Chatelaine magazines. We love Lavishy for it’s super affordable prices and whimsical pieces and we’re sure you will too. We sat down with Jane, Director of Retail at Lavishy, to learn a bit more about this accessories oasis.

1. What’s in a name — how did the founder come up with Lavishy?

— We were looking for a unique brand name that would be suitable for international business, so we asked one of our founding partners for advice on a romantic and colourful word. He gave us LAVISH. To make it sound nicer and be unique enough to register as trade mark, we added a Y to the end of the world. That was how we came to be LAVISHY. We think it sounds quite cool and different.

2. What types of clientele do you cater to?

— Since our company designs an exclusive collection and is also wholesale distributor, LAVISHY’s designs speak to various points of view on lifestyle and fashion instead of just one age group, demographic or style. We firmly believe that fashion is all about having fun with life and celebrating yourself, so we strive to carry pieces that are fun and colourful but also affordable and work well on an international stage.

3. What are your favourite accessory trends for the season?

Japanese Doll necklace, $21

love birds mini-bag, $34.99

— The two trends this season we like the most are international dolls and mini bags. This season, our Flare collection features long necklaces with Japanese and Russian doll pendants. (We just came back from Paris with some exciting finds also including Japanese and Russian dolls). Our small messenger bag is also a big hit this season from our popular collection Adora.

4. What celebrity would you most love to accessorize?

— Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA! I know it is crazy but we are really thinking ABBA catches the spirit “All for fun. Fun for all”. And LAVISHY is all about fun. We love project runway for their crazy yet extremely creative challenges. So if we want to challenge ourselves, we would leave Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan to others and accessorize the forever icon ABBA.

5. What is your favourite piece in the store?

The Tree of Life necklace $21 (also in gold)

–For me, it’s the tree of life necklace from our Flare collection. It’s also the best seller for our wholesale division in both US and Canada. From our designs you can tell we love nature and the citizens of our Mother Earth. Without the tree, there will be nor birds or other animals. This style is so universal popular that we will add Tree of Life earrings to our collection this fall. The style will be débuted in July in Atlanta and then New York for wholesale but Shop Socials guests will be able to purchase a pair on July 8th when Shopping After Dark visits Lavishy Boutique in a few weeks.
