So we’re already less than 2 weeks away from the most unique vintage event Toronto’s ever seen! Why is it unique? Well, nevermind the fact that we’ve created a vintage shoppers dream with an easy to shop selection of edited, reconstructed and inspired vintage fashion and accessories, we’ve also rounded some talented style and beauty experts to help you take your retro style to the next level.
Here’s a look at who’s on the roster:
Vintage Glam expert, Blonde Moxie Makeup
Blonde Moxie Makeup is all about vintage glamour. She is the go to Makeup and Hair gal for Toronto’s Burlesque scene and for anyone who wants to be a pin up for a day. There are two things that draw Blonde Moxie into the world of vintage beauty styling: First, the countless hours women spent on making themselves look beautiful to the outside world. In these days of instant gratification, its hard to find the time or desire to follow these same regimes! Blonde Moxie has found a way to quicken the process but end up with the same result say, our Grandmother’s would have. Second, confidence! Many women approach Blonde Moxie and say “I’d love to do what you do, but couldn’t ever pull it off”, this is not true! Through The Pin Up Parlour – a monthly photoshoot session where women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds are transformed into Pin Up models, she’s seen countless women change their attitudes on the style and themselves. Vintage beauty not only brightens and fancies up what’s on the outside but most importantly whats on the inside as well, this is what Blonde Moxie Makeup is all about.
Vintage Stylist & Shopping Expert, Cat Shanahan
Cat Shanahan knows a thing or two about how to score vintage treasures. A vintage shopper since her teens, Cat owns a carefully curated Etsy shop, Aiseirigh, that features a plum selection of fashion and accessories that are in near mint condition and all very wearable, even when mixed with modern looks. To yield such an amazing collection, Cat rolls up her sleeves and does the “dirty work”, scouring estate sales and engaging in battle at Good Will Buy the Pound. Her eye for vintage style takes her beyond her online shop and into the world of editorial styling. She’s extremely talented in creating vintage looks from any era and did an amazing job styling our models for the Retro Style Lab shoot.
DivaGirl President and Dance Instructor, Laura Furtado
Drop dead gorgeous and armed with a love satin gloves and feather boas, DivaGirl President, Laura Furtado would’ve definitely been a pin-up diva had she been born in another era. She embodies va va va voom and helps ladies all over the country unleash their sexy within through DivaGirl Fitness. Though being outwardly sexy wasn’t something ladies of the past readily admitted to, we know that underneath those pencil skirts and horn-rimmed glasses was a dash of coquette. Laura’s going to help us channel our inner pin-ups through a cute, flirtatious chair lapdance workshop. Get ready for a little Oooh La La!
Image Consultant and Vintage Enthusiast, Teca Cameron
