About a month ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing an authentic Japanese hot rock bathing therapy known as “Ganbanyoku” at Iyashi Bedrock Spa. The treatment is fairly simple. You’re given a comfy cotton wrap top and cropped pant to wear and spend your time resting in a quiet room laying on towels that rest on heated stone beds. The heat isn’t steamy like a steam room or sauna, so breathing is easy, but of course, you alternate from this heated oasis back to the cooling room to keep yourself from overheating. Through this process, sweat and toxins pour out, the immune system is boosted and at the end, you feel absolutely refreshed and invigorated. If you know anything about infrared heat and the benefits of negative ions, you’ll understand why. If not, just know it feels great and is amazing for your health and wellness.

If this sounds fabulous to you, or if you’re just curious to test out North America’s first Ganbanyoku spa, join Shop Socials at Iyashi Bedrock Spa located at 2662 Yonge Street (north of Eglinton) on Saturday, April 30th from 6 PM – 9 PM where we’ll spa and shop in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ Japan Relief Fund.
A $30 donation registers you for this exclusive event and grants you:
- 30 minutes of hot rock bathing
- Access to skincare bars from Arbonne & C’est Une Beaute
- Professional makeup touch-ups
- Complimentary refreshments
- and gift bags for the first 60 guests who register
Of course, shopping is also involved in the action. Two shops neighbouring the spa, I Heart Accessories (our fave spot for cheap chic bling) and the newly opened natural beauty boutique, C’est Une Beaute, will stay open after hours for us to browse and buy with gift card swag you’ll find inside your goody bags. You’ll also be able to purchase additional Ganbankyoku session packages at Iyashi with an amazing 30% discount and an additional donation to the Red Cross.

We’re also finalizing details for an accompanying silent auction filled with items so great I’d love to keep them ourselves from generous sponsors including: Flirt Custom Lash, Girlnola, Featherband, Making Love In The Kitchen, Simon & Schuster, Dolce Magazine, Headmistress, Neckluxe, Iyashi Bedrock Spa, Nella Bella, Aiseirigh Vintage and, of course, Shop Socials. The auction actually starts via our Facebook Fan Page, where you can bid on the items you love though you may need to commit to being there on April 30th if you really want to secure an item you want.
I’m really excited for the opportunity to share Iyashi Bedrock Spa with my fellow socialites and to raise funds to support efforts in Japan. The spa is graciously donating their time and services to our cause so that 100% of your $30 registration fee will be donated back to the Red Cross. We hope to see you on Saturday, April 30th for this really unique experience. >>Register NOW and join us.
p.s. Please SHARE details of this with your friends, even if you can’t make it. It’s a really great cause.
