Shop Socials was launched in February 2010 by founder and wardrobe expert, Tamika Auwai, as a means to showcase the talent of local designers and uniqueness of independent boutiques and to bring women together for a social experience beyond brunch or bars. That isn’t to say cocktails aren’t involved. After all, isn’t shopping a little better with a cocktail in hand?
Since our first event in March 2010, Shop Socials has hosted over 30 events and has partnered with over 100 amazing local Toronto businesses as well as international brands to entertain thousands of women with a shared love of shopping and socializing.
In May 2011, Shop Socials launched its Excursions service. Private chauffeured shopping experiences featuring hand-selected local boutiques, luxury transportation and full-on socialite treatment. Within a few short months, the Excursions service took off — literally, and end landed Tamika (and some willing shoppers) on CityNews at 6.
Today, Shop Socials aims to be more than just a shopping event producer and tour provider, it strives to connect shopping enthusiasts online and act as a resource for what to buy and where to shop online and in-store, not just in Toronto, but around the world.
